Charm Bracelets
A Charm bracelet is the jewellery item that drifts in and out of high fashion, but never disappears completely. They have seen a huge comeback over the last few years, but most of us can dig around in the bottom of our jewellery boxes and produce a charm bracelet from our childhood. But what makes them so special? A charm bracelet is not just a piece of jewellery, but a collection of memories.
Traditionally charms are given as a present to mark a significant event: from christenings to birthdays, graduation etc. They are also popular holiday souvenirs ( and easier to carry home than that big straw donkey!). What better way to be reminded of that great holiday in Paris, than glancing down at your wrist and seeing the tiny Eiffel Tower.
I still have my childhood charm bracelet and I can look at each charm and recall who gave it to me and why. It is a great tradition, and one that is perfect to pass onto your daughters. Of course you can buy charms just because they are pretty or represent something the wearer loves e.g. animals, and the recipient will still remember who bought it, and it will bring back memories.
So if you are always struggling to know what to buy your daughters for presents, buy them a simple curb link bracelet and start their charm collection. You will never again be stuck for an idea for what to buy them!
The added advantage of a charm bracelet is it can be changed and updated. You can fill it with cheaper silver plated or gold plated charms to get you started and then replace them one by one with more expensive sterling silver and gold charms when you can afford it.
The popular modern twist on the traditional charm bracelet is the glass bead charm bracelet. These are bright, colourful and very fashionable. CHARM - a small object worn on a chain as jewellery. Anything that fascinates, delights.
