Cleaning Your Jewellery CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY / JEWELLERY CLEANING Sterling Silver - use a silver polishing cloth. Available in hardware stores and some jewellers, they last years. Don't wear your jewellery when doing the washing up as detergent can damage the finish. Pure Silver - I picked up this tip when I lived in India where the silver is purer than sterling silver. Mix some toothpaste with a little water and use the paste to clean your silver to a sparkling finish! Pearls - Again, keep out of the washing up. Rub gently with a soft cloth and wear your pearls, as it is the natural oils in your skin which keeps them clean!
